Jane, here are the two ponchos. Same design, different sizes. Both ponchos have an asymmetrical hem: straight across one edge and a “V” point on the other. Wear it however you wish– point in the front, in the back or over your shoulder– there is no right or wrong way. (Although if we add armholes, you’d probably only wear it that one way.)
The first six pictures are of a shorter version you have not seen, it was another custom order. Click on each picture to flip through; I’ve added a description underneath each to explain. Is the shorter one better?

just finished and posted for sale on etsy: the Cindy poncho– now in deep indigo blue wool. the more you wear it, the better it gets, like a pair of jeans.
the bumpy texture is created by yarn over increases and left/right slanting decreases. lightly felted, thick and cuddly but not too bulky. one size fits many 40″ long from v-neck to the point, 23″ drop across the back un-stretched. stretchy.
just finished! lisa r’s made-to-order Cindy poncho in Patons Shetland Chunky acrylic/wool blend yarn. Earthy Brown color. 8 stitch, 6 row pattern repeat. texture is created by yarn over increases and left/right slanting decreases.
the Cindy is an original design, named after my running partner MFC who is completely fabulous and always makes me feel good, just like this poncho.
